Let's Play Ball!

The Baseball Opening Day Parade started at 7:30am with truck decorating, balloons, streamers, donuts and coffee (for the adults!). The emergency services led the parade with sirens blaring through the 'twin cities' of Corte Madera and Larkspur ending up at Kirby Field at school. All the teams encircled the baseball diamond and the pitcher threw the opening ball... yay! The season begins... C'arn the Indians! The boys have begun collecting baseball cards and have learned a few of the players' names already. It's totally infectious and a lot of fun. Our first game is tomorrow.

Veggie Patch

The kids helped plant our first veggie/ flower/ herb garden. Stay tuned for more sprouting news...

Goodbye Kindy, Hello 1st Grade

Jack said farewell to Mario & Paige and his Kindergarten class at Marin Primary today as, from Monday, he starts 1st Grade at our local primary school Coleman Elementary, to move into 2nd Grade in the Fall (August). Jack's class had a beautiful farewell ceremony for him; sharing memories of the year and then lining up to high 5 him before he tore through their banner just like a footy player before a big game! Proud as punch.

Take me out to the ball game!

AT&T Park played host to the last of the practice matches tonight with the San Francisco Giants (formerly of NY) vs. the Seattle Mariners. We had great seats with a view out to the Bay Bridge - one ball was even tonked out of the ground into the water. The boys loved it. Footy? What's that?!

Happy Easter

The boys woke this morning to hunt for their eggs in the garden. The
EB located the Lundberg Boys by honing in on the painted giant egg
that Jack found - then he tried to steal it by squeezing it thru the
fence... cheeky bunny! Lots of treats, a couple of feathered nests and
some blue eggs later we cooked an Australian frenched lamb rack on the
webber and enjoyed with a wonderful pinot... mmmm!

The Delk

Bit blurry, but you get the idea! David's birthday present - the Delk
(cross between a deer and an elk, we've nicknamed him Whitey) -
arrived safely from ShackUp in Montana. Looks perfect in our
lounge room. Note Jason's present alongside the fire too - a branding
iron with a 'rocking D and lazy L'. Very cool!

Little League Baseball

The Indians began their pre-season training at Kirby Field next to Marin Primary today. Kitted up the kids looked sensational. Coach Mike is great and captured their attention right from the beginning. Should be a fun season. Batter up...!

Sam's 1st Soccer

Assistant Coach Janelle & Coach Sarah address the team of soccer
stars. Training has begun in earnest as spring draws near in the local
Corte Madera Town Park. Lovely setting at the base of Mt.Tam, parents
pull up a rug and have a chat whilst these guys and gals run their
little hearts out. Jack gave Sam a lot of encouragement, dressing him
before training and guiding him on the principles of his beloved game
ie. "Sam don't touch the ball 'cos that's cheating".

Carmel-by-the-Sea

Just got back from 3 days down at Carmel-by-the-Sea for Davey's birthday, a gorgeous little town about 3hrs south. We rented a house in the forest and rose early each morning (not quite by choice!) to fossick on the white sandy beaches. The weather was gloriously warm and we fired up the webber out on the deck. The boys played baseball on the beach and I have never seen such a canine friendly town - Teak was welcome everywhere!

Sobre Los Pinos

Monterey Bay Aquarium

Davey's birthday today and we hung out at The Monterey Bay Aquarium on our way home from Carmel. The boys had a great time touching sting rays and seeing the sharks, scuba divers and sea otters - we even saw live ones frolicking in the bay outside the window during lunch. We had a surprise chocolate mousse birthday dessert for Davey with a candle... the detox starts tomorrow (seriously!). The weather was glorious and, being a Monday, the place was really quiet. For the first time, I can say that a Californian museum is better than its Melbourne counterpart!
